Holiday in Hawaii

11.28.2014
Heyoooo I spent Thanksgiving in Hawaii at my aunt's house. These pictures were taken off her back porch. I feel lucky lucky lucky.
I wore my Band of Outsiders skirt for Thanksgiving. (Michelle Obama has the same one. We are soul sisters, I bet.) I was  going to do a more proper outfit post, but the sunset and colors were lovely last night so I posted these.

Ferguson

11.24.2014
Let me interrupt scheduled pretty pictures.

Today's decision to not even indite Darren Wilson after he shot and murdered an unarmed black teenager is disgusting. Don't you dare pretend that racism ended with the Civil Rights Movement. As a white woman, I cannot fathom the fear and sadness that POC are enduring because of this murder, let alone on a daily basis. But I absolutely stand with the protestors in Ferguson and especially Mike Brown's family. The American justice system has failed yet again and it is enraging. Do not be silent about this.

My friend Emma and I met in Long Beach and took some photos! She was amazing to work with.
This is part 1, with glitter and sunlight galore.

Outsider

11.17.2014
So Wednesday is my last day interning at Band of Outsiders. Which is kind of surreal and very sad, because it has been my life for the last 6 months. I had the most amazing experience. The day I was accepted as an intern was insane to me. I had wanted to work in fashion since I was 14 and suddenly I was a part of a major brand. I only see myself doing more work in fashion from here on out. I'm so excited.
Working with the people at Band was awesome. They were so chill and let me actually have a lot of responsibility for an intern.
This was the piece I got to take with me.
I took these photos on the roof of my apartment building. I think a lot of people were staring at me and I couldn't see them. It was unsettling in a panopticon kind of way. But no need to get social-theorist right now.
Look at my pretty dress!!! This was the first piece I fell in love with when I started interning at Band. It's so simple but so refreshing. I paired it with my new double monk strap shoes.

Makers: Cocomont Vintage Shop

11.13.2014
So I want to make this "Friends Who Make Things" a feature on my blog. Because there ain't nothin better than celebrating people doing what they love and being creative and wonderful.
And let me tell you, Matti and Ben of Cocomont Vintage Shop are wonderful. I met Matti at the best summer camp in the world about four years ago. She was the Improv instructor and I took the class because why not ( I was terrible at it.) I met Ben soon after and since then they have been some of the most inspiring creative forces in my life. One of the reasons I love coming home so much is to run around and take pictures with them.
These two have awesome style and a great eye. They collect the coolest vintage stuff and sell it on their Etsy store. They house their collection at Matti's mom's flower shop. Cocomont is also an awesome styling team for events and weddings.
We did a fun shoot and I took some photos of them doing their vintage thing.

Some strange self-portraits where I either look really cool/spooky or like I am being abducted by aliens. Or both. Or I've been watching a lot of X-Files.

Topanga

11.03.2014
A few days ago my friend Kathleen and I went to Topanga Fresh Market! They have delicious juice and smoothies and foods. Topanga Canyon is a wonderful place to go when I am feeling burnt out on LA life. It's peaceful and nice there.
